About Amelia Island

Amelia Island is the southernmost of the Sea Islands, a chain of barrier islands stretching along the United States’ east coast from South Carolina to Florida. The island is located off the coast of northeast Florida and is part of Nassau County. Amelia Island is home to about 13,000 people and is a popular vacation destination. The island is accessible by a bridge from Fernandina Beach, and a small airport also serves it. Amelia Island is well known for its beautiful beaches, world-class golf courses, and luxurious resorts. It is also home to various shops, restaurants, and several historical landmarks.

Sunny beaches

Fernandina Beach is the island’s main beach, and it’s a great place to soak up the Florida sun. There are also several smaller beaches that are perfect for exploring, including Fort Clinch State Park Beach and Amelia Island State Park Beach. If you’re looking for a little more adventure, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy.

Golf and other activities

Amelia Island is home to several world-class golf courses, including the Golf Club of Amelia Island, Amelia River Golf Club and Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort. And if tennis is more your game, you can enjoy a match at one of the island’s many tennis courts. Of course, no vacation would be complete without some time spent exploring the local shops and restaurants. Amelia Island’s historic downtown district is home to various unique shops, boutiques, and several excellent restaurants. Check out some of the island’s most popular spots, such as The Salty Pelican, Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro, and Cafe Karibo.

The resort is located on Amelia Island’s historic boardwalk, which is perfect for a stroll. As you walk, you’ll take in the island’s stunning views and the Atlantic Ocean. You can visit Fort Clinch State Park, a must-see for history buffs. The park is home to a Civil War-era fort, a variety of hiking trails, and nature areas. The Amelia Island Plantation is a popular shopping destination, offering a variety of stores and boutiques. Be sure to stop by the island’s signature store, the Amelia Island Book Company, for a unique selection of books. Attend a Concert at the Amelia Island Jazz Festival – each year, the Amelia Island Jazz Festival brings some of the world’s top jazz musicians to the island for four days of concerts. The festival takes place in October, so be sure to mark your calendar if you’re a fan of jazz. Go on a Dolphin-Watching Cruise: island is home to a large population of dolphins, and several companies offer dolphin-watching cruises. This is an excellent activity for the whole family.
