What to do in Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua & Barbuda

Best of Antigua & Barbuda

1 Dickenson Bay

Enjoy the holiday atmosphere on what is considered the premier beach of the island's 365 stretches of sand. There’s something for every type of beachgoer: white sands, warm turquoise waters, resorts, beach bars, glass-bottomed boat tours and watersports.

2 Falmouth Harbour

Admire the many superyachts and sailing schooners from Pigeon Beach or the Antigua Yacht Club Marina in this pretty horseshoe-shaped natural harbour; its bars and restaurants are always buzzing, especially during events like the Antigua Sailing Week Regatta.

3 Nelson's Dockyard National Park

Explore this evocative historical district developed as a base for the British Navy and Horatio Nelson in the great age of sail; now completely restored, it is the only Georgian dockyard in the world and features a museum, hotels, restaurants and shops in the original buildings.

4 Shirley Heights

Party at the top of this colonial observation post. The views extend out over English and Falmouth harbours and far across the Caribbean to Montserrat, and on Sunday there’s a hugely popular barbecue with steelpan and reggae music that brings revellers from across the island.

5 Barbuda

Take the ferry over from Antigua to explore the white and pink sand, shell-strewn beaches, mangroves and lagoons of this relatively undeveloped little coral island. There’s excellent snorkelling on the beautiful, well-preserved reefs and birdwatchers will enjoy the Frigate Bird Sanctuary.
