More traditional Panamanian crafts include the colourful
molas
embroidered by the Kuna people of the San Blas islands. Masks, costumes, ceramics and woven hats can be found in several small villages dotted around the Azuero Peninsula. These are on sale in many places. Straw, leather and ceramic items are also available, as are carvings of wildlife made from wood, nuts and other natural materials. And of course, don't forget the quintessential
Panama hat
. Good ones are expensive. Duty-free imported goods including stereos, photographic equipment, perfume and clothes are cheap in the Colón Free Zone on the Caribbean coast. Most items are cheaper than at point of origin.
