South to the coast

Heading southwest from Guadalajara along Route 54 brings one past increasingly green and fertile areas given over to agave and citrus fruits until, after passing by the twin volcanoes, the lovely city of Colima appears. From here, one can travel northwest along Route 200 to reach Manzanillo and eventually all the way to the Sonoran Desert (if so inclined) or strike out along the same route in a southerly direction and cross into Michoacán, home to some of Mexico's most lovely (and still largely unknown) beaches.
