Itineraries

The Honduran trail is pretty straightforward. Most people arrive from Guatemala and visit
Copán
with its nearby ruins and growing range of activities. From Copán it's a bus to San Pedro Sula and a quick change to continue to
Tela
or
La Ceiba
, both close to national parks. From La Ceiba the ferry leaves for
Roatán
and
Utila
, the budget travellers' choice for diving, snorkelling and island life. That trip will take about 10 days - add the flight or long bus journey round to Tegucigalpa. From there, it's onwards to Nicaragua. If you have more time, a circular route goes to
Santa Rosa de Copán
, through
Gracias
to
Tegucigalpa
, and then from the capital to
Comayagua
,
Lago Yojoa
and
San Pedro Sula
. That will make your stay in Honduras close to three weeks - add one more if you want to visit
La Mosquitia
.
