Itineraries

The most natural trip in Guatemala, if you're travelling through the region, is to enter the country from the north from Mexico or Belize, visit Tikal and then head south. After some time in La Antigua and around Lake Atitlán, explore the towns of the Guatemalan highlands. Continuing south, there are many options for crossing the border. Head for El Florido, for best access to Copán, or out to the Caribbean and the crossing at Entre Ríos-Corinto near Puerto Barrios for the Bay Islands. Three to four weeks is a good stay in Guatemala; any less and you'll have to rush around.
