Getting there

Air

International flights into Ecuador arrive either at
Quito
(UIO) or
Guayaquil
(GYE). There are frequent flights between Quito and Guayaquil, as well as ample bus services. International airfares from North America and Europe to Ecuador may vary with low and high season. High season is generally July to September and December. International flights to Ecuador
from other South or Central American countries, however, usually have one price year-round.

Road and river

There are roads and international bus services to Ecuador from neighbouring Colombia and Peru as well as South American countries further afield, but no vehicle road connecting with North or Central America. The most advisable border crossings are at Tulcán in the north and Macará in the south. For other land borders with Peru; for river travel to and from Peru .

Except for the Guayaquil-Piura (Peru) and Loja-Piura routes, it is usually much cheaper to buy bus tickets as far as the nearest border town, cross on foot or by taxi, and then purchase tickets locally in the country you have just entered.
