Tourist information and promotion is handled at the national level by the
Ministerio de Turismo

ministerio
has regional offices in the larger provincial capitals and there are
municipal tourist offices
in almost every town; details are given in the text. The quality of service and information provided vary considerably, if your expectations are modest then you may be pleasantly surprised. Many tourist offices are identified by signs marked '
iTur
'.
This USA-based non-profit organization provides its members with a wide range of travel information about Ecuador and South America. See www.saexplorers.org. It offers a Quito resource centre with a library, a quarterly journal, and sells guidebooks and maps. SAE can hold postal mail for its members. SAE services are only available to members of the club.
