Latacunga and the Quilotoa Circuit

Latacunga, an authentic highland city, is the gateway to the popular Quilotoa Circuit, a loop through several colourful villages in the Cotopaxi countryside. The scenery is grand and varied, ranging from the immense Río Toachi Canyon, through patchwork fields and high páramo to cloud forest. The emerald crater lake of Quilotoa, in particular, is not to be missed. This area is also rich in folklore and a number of colourful indigenous markets are well worth a visit.
