Highway 32 to Puerto Limón

From the misty ridges and peaks of the Braulio Carrillo National Park and beyond the rainforest aerial tram , Highway 32 continues east along the flat lowlands towards Puerto Limón.
The road is straight and the scenery has just a smattering of interest on a clear day with the profiles of Irazú and Turrialba breaking the skyline to the south. Just north of the main highway, the banana towns of Guápiles, Guácimo and Siquirres are hardly inspiring. As you head east, all this inactivity simply provides you with more time to contemplate the differences between the regions. Places of interest are dotted along the road, and outside the main towns, accommodation options require a vehicle - or energetic legs.
