Getting there
Air
International flights arrive principally at Bogotá and Cartagena, but there are also direct flights to Medellín, Cali, Pereira, Barranquilla and San Andrés. Fares are significantly lower in the low season, outside the peaks times of Easter, July, August and December.Road and river
The
main Colombia-Venezuela crossings are at Cúcuta-San Antonio and
Maicao-Paraguachón for Maracaibo. The border with Ecuador is
crossed at Ipiales-Rumichaca.
If
travelling independently on foot, there are many more places for
entering or leaving Colombia. These include from Ecuador via Puerto
Asís, from Panama via the Darién Gap and from Venezuela across the Río
Orinoco, none of which are advised at the moment under current security
circumstances.
Colombia shares borders with Brazil and Peru at Leticia on the Amazon. It is possible to cross from these countries by ferry, but the going is slow and difficult.
