The southwest

Negril, the main tourist town in the west, earned a reputation in the days of hippies and is still considered more laid back than other destinations. Its seven-mile beach attracts families, couples and students on their spring breaks and accommodation is equally varied, from basic cabins to boutique luxury hotels. Long ignored by all except fisherman, the south coast is gradually attracting attention from visitors.
