Poços de Caldas in Brazil

The city is right on the São Paulo state border, some 150 km north of the hydro resorts around Lindóia. Sited at 1180 m on the crater of an extinct volcano in a mountainous area, it has an excellent climate. The resort, a traditional honeymoon centre, has thermal establishments for the treatment of rheumatic, skin and intestinal diseases (you need a local doctor's certificate to use these facilities; ask at the resort for recommendations). Venetians from Murano settled here and established a crystal-glass industry.
