Student travellers
If you are in full time education you will be entitled to an
ISIC
(International Student Identity Card, www.isic.org), which is distributed by student travel offices and travel agencies in more than 77 countries. The ISIC card gives you special prices on all forms of transport and access to a variety of other concessions and services.
In practice, the ISIC card is rarely recognized or accepted for discounts outside of the south and southeast of Brazil, but is nonetheless useful for obtaining half-price entry to the cinema. Youth hostels will often accept it in lieu of a IYHA card or at least give a discount, and some university accommodation (and subsidized canteens) will allow very cheap short-term stays to holders.
