Charazani
Charazani (official name Villa Juan J Pérez) is the largest village in the region. At 3200 m it is noticeably warmer than La Paz and there are thermal baths by the river 10 mins below the village. Another local attraction is a three-day fiesta around 16 July, which is famous for having some of the best highland music, native costumes and non-stop dancing (and drinking). There are some small shops and eateries around the plaza and a number of alojamientos.
From Charazani one road descends along steep river valleys to Apolo, and another makes its roundabout way to the villages of Lagunillas, Curva and Cañisaya.
