Beyond Cochabamba

With three national parks in its vicinity, Cochabamba is a logical base for visiting this interesting and relatively unexplored area. Torotoro, one of Bolivia's best parks, has dinosaur tracks and canyons; Carrasco boasts great birdwatching; while Isiboro-Sécure, in the Chapare region, has interesting indigenous cultures. In addition, at Inkallajta there's a ruined Inca fortress, and the resort of Villa Tunari has an animal refuge that accepts volunteers.
