Police

Whereas in Europe and North America we are accustomed to law enforcement on a systematic basis, enforcement in Argentina is more of a sporadic affair. Many people feel that the police are corrupt and not reliable due to incredibly low pay, and there are reports that they sometimes work with local thieves to turn a blind eye to muggings. In fact, they are usually courteous, and will be helpful to tourists.
