Denise & Fearne’s Trek for Breast Cancer

Denise Van Outen, Fearne Cotton, Alexandra Burke, Gabriella Cilmi and Amanda Byram treked through the Andes in Peru in aid of Breast Cancer Care during September 2010 and Footprint were delighted to support both the trek, and the ongoing fundraising efforts of the Breast Cancer Care team.

The celebrities were joined by six women each of whom have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as part of a documentary shown on ITV2.

We produced a bespoke Inca Trail guide which was sold exclusively through WHSmith during late September and October. The guide, which included a foreword from Denise Van Outen, costed £1.00 and all proceeds went to Breast Cancer Care.

 The nine day trip saw the women trekking up to 8 hours a day as they tackled the Andes mountain range in South America. The trip culminated at the legendary Machu Picchu.

Talking about the trip, Denise Van Outen said, “Fearne Cotton and I decided that we wanted to do something to help people with breast cancer when we were sharing a tent on Mount Kilimanjaro. Neither of us had ever been to Peru but the legendary Machu Picchu was on our ‘must do’ list.  Ever since then we’ve been busy planning and getting more and more excited as the weeks go by."

"My grandmother had breast cancer so I know all too well how lonely and terrifying it can be. That’s why I am working hard to raise money for Breast Cancer Care as they do an amazing job supporting anyone affected by this life threatening illness. It’s not all about the money though. As a young Mum, being breast aware is a hot topic for me and I want to ensure other young women are aware too. For me this trip is about making more younger women aware of the disease as well as raising much needed funds.”
