North coast

The north coast of Sarawak is fairly remote, with Bintulu, Miri and Marudi being the only significant towns. Close to Bintulu is Similajau National Park where green turtles lay their eggs. Niah National Park boasts famous limestone caves and is home to jungle birds and primates. Miri is the launch pad for river trips into the interior and Marudi is an upriver trading post and the start of a cross-border trek. Bintulu is accessible by air, boat from Tubau in the interior and bus. Miri is accessible by air and bus and Marudi by air and boat.
