Berastagi, is a hill resort town, lying 1400 m above sea level on the Karo Plateau among the traditional lands of the Karo Batak people. Though Berastagi may not be a one-horse town, it gives the impression of being a one-road town. There is also the distinct feel that it has become a way-station, a sort of trucking stop between other more important places
