Gili Islands

The three tropical island idylls that make up the Gili Islands lie off Lombok's northwest coast, 20-45 minutes by boat from Bangsal. They are now a well-established fixture on the southeast Asian trail. Known as the 'Gilis' or the 'Gili Islands' by many travellers, this only means 'the Islands' in Sasak. Most locals have accepted this Western corruption of their language and will understand where you want to go. Be extra careful swimming here as there are very strong currents between the islands.
