Getting there

Air

The main international gateway into Indonesia is Jakarta's
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport
, with Bali and Medan (Sumatra) also popular.

Boat

Batam is increasingly used as an international gateway, with arrivals mostly by sea from Singapore . You can also travel from Malaysia to Indonesia .

Road

There are three overland crossings into Indonesia. One is at
Entikong
, which links the East Malaysian city of Kuching in Sarawak with the capital of West Kalimantan, Pontianak. Another is at
Motoain
between Timor Leste and West Timor. The third is between
Vanimo
in Papua New Guinea and Sentani in Papua. There are no visa on arrival facilities available in any of these places: a visa must be obtained beforehand.
