Far South

India's southernmost point is a focus of pilgrimage that captures the imagination of millions of Hindus on a daily basis. Kanniyakumari occupies a beautiful headland site where the waters of the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea mingle together and crash upon the rocks. An hour further towards Kerala is Padmanabhapuram Palace, the painstakingly maintained ancient seat of the Travancore rulers. Tirunelveli, one-time capital of the Pandyas, is now a market and educational centre that is often passed over on the trail towards Madurai.
