The sights of interest are grouped in three main areas. In the centre is the British-built capital of New Delhi, with its government buildings and wide avenues. The heart of Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) is about 2 km north of Connaught Circus. Ten kilometres to the south is the Qutb Minar complex, with the old fortress city of Tughluqabad, 8 km to its east. Across the Yamuna River is the remarkable new Akshardham Temple. You can visit each separately, or link routes together into a day-tour to include the most interesting.
