Accommodation is expensive compared with neighbouring Sarawak and Sabah. Most of the hotels are functional, business-oriented places, and there are virtually no budget options, apart from the youth hostel (Pusat Belia) in Bandar Seri Begawan and the indigenous longhouses, some of which offer homestay programmes. At the top end, Brunei boasts the impressive, six-star Empire Hotel & Country Club, one of the world's flashiest hotels. Top-end hotels frequently offer excellent promotions.
