Isiolo and around

Isiolo is an interesting little frontier town, very different from the rest of the Central Province towns around Mount Kenya. It is a small town north of Meru inhabited mostly by the descendants of Somali people who were resettled there after the First World War. It is also the nearest town to explore the national reserves at Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba, all grouped together 40 km to the north. These national parks are the most accessible of the northern wildlife sanctuaries.
