There is a reason Luxor is deemed the world's biggest open-air museum: it brims over with extraordinary sights. In brief, on the
East Bank
, the Luxor Temple, and Karnak Temple complex are the two essential stops. Large tour parties on day trips from Hurghada tend to arrive at Karnak Temple at certain times in the day, and these times are definitely best avoided. Karnak at dawn, being first through the gate, is the best way to do it. Visit Luxor Temple at night - it's beautifully lit and easily accessible as it's right in the middle of town.
