Umbria & Marche

Unlike many of Italy’s more visited regions, Umbria and Le Marche have little in the way of gold-star family attractions. There are no must-see Roman arenas, leaning towers or volcanoes but what you will find is a gentle, rural and unspoilt part of Italy with rolling countryside dotted with medieval castles and hilltop towns, fine stretches of sandy beaches along the Adriatic coast and spectacular national parks in the Apennine mountains. It’s the perfect place to relax and experience a less hectic side to Italian life with plenty of the cultural and scenic highlights you’d expect from somewhere like Tuscany, but without the crowds.
