Turquoise Coast

Hemmed in by pine-covered mountains and stretching from Marmaris in the west to Antalya in the east, the unspoilt Turquoise Coast offers a wide range of activities – particularly if you like boat trips. Spectacular, some say overdeveloped, the teardrop beach and azure lagoon of Olüdeniz graces almost every other postcard along the Turquoise Coast. The shallow, sheltered waters are perfect for tots, while older children will enjoy the wide range of watersports. Further east, Patara is a complete contrast – a 19-km swathe of sand that has been spared the curse of the concrete mixer thanks to its popularity with nesting loggerhead turtles. There are no facilities here, but it’s still a beach made in sandcastle-building heaven. Just inland there are some atmospheric Roman ruins, while canoe trips on the nearby Xanthos River include gentle rapids as well as wallowing in some natural mud pools.
