Cyprus

Fabled as the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love, Cyprus has legions of holidaymakers well and truly smitten by its beaches, climate and scenery. The southern part of Cyprus is by far the more developed with the kind of all-singing, all-dancing resorts that most teenagers will rave about. However, if you prefer something quieter and more off the beaten track, then North Cyprus (occupied by Turkey since 1974) couldn’t be more of a contrast to its Greek Cypriot neighbour. Here, you will find sleepy harbour towns and rural villages; castles perched in the Kyrenia Mountains and beaches where turtles still dare to nest.
