Northern France

A seaside holiday. That’s what lures most families to Northern France. And who can blame them. From the vast sandy beaches of Normandy to the Atlantic-gnawed cliffs and sheltered coves of Brittany, this varied stretch of coastline is paradise for anyone armed with a bucket, a spade and a shrimping net. History, too, comes alive along this shore from megalithic standing stones at Carnac to the D-Day beaches of the Second World War. And to crown it all you’ve got Mont St-Michel, an excuse for a Famous Five-style adventure if ever there was one.
