Denmark might not strike you as an obvious choice for a family holiday, but few European countries can match its combination of compact size, efficient and family-friendly infrastructure and range of attractions. You’ve probably heard of Legoland and Tivoli Gardens two of the country’s family favourites but there’s a lot more to Denmark than rollercoaster’s and brightly coloured bits of plastic. Copenhagen is a laid-back city endowed with parks, museums, palaces and the rich legacy of storyteller-supreme, Hans Christian Anderson. Further afield, you will find long sandy beaches, holiday centres and a veritable treasure trail of Viking sites. Denmark’s real trump card particularly with young families is that it just seems that little bit less remote than other parts of Scandinavia.
